Petmar Hallie Madame Le Petite

Update: Hallie has crossed the rainbow bridge.

Hallie's original life journal is still posted below her obituary.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

You may have seen from this page or my home page that Hallie had PKD (polycystic kidney disease). Hallie was only 4 years old and was just a little bit of a thing. She fought the good fight and is now waiting for all of us over the rainbow bridge. I thank God that Hallie's disease didn't drag on for years and that she didn't have to live in a lot of pain and misery for a long period of time. Hallie died early in the morning on a hot summer day. I woke up at around 4:00 A.M. and found her on the bathroom floor. I didn't find this unusual because she often liked to lay in there on the cool floor. I reached down to pet her and give her scritches, she looked up at me with those big soulful eyes and chirped at me. We talked back and forth for a minute, I gave her a final scratch on the head and went off to bed. When I woke and got out of bed a few hours later, I found her laying still and cold on the bathroom floor still looking up at me. My little angel was gone. I think about my little Hallie Beary every day and miss her dearly. Rest in peace, my little angel.... rest in peace. If you would like more information on PKD, please follow the links on the home page and on my links page.

The first 4  pictures were taken around October 23, 2003 when Hallie first came to live with us. She was 2 years old and only 4.2 pounds. It was a challenge to take her in and trying to get her healthy again but it was well worth it!

I think Hallie felt safe in this soft-sided carrier her first few days here.

Is that a bird up there? Or just a dust ball flying near the ceiling fan?

She's definitely feeling a little better and becoming more active.

Below my little Christmas Elf is helping me make jewelry and sew!

She also found a gift under the tree that she thinks might be for her!

Hallie went to the vet to get weighed on 12/17/03 and is now 6.1 lbs! Her fur is starting to grow out a bit more too. Hallie is very active now. She sleeps all day and then terrorizes the house at night! It's all very entertaining. She chases shadows and races up and down the hallway. She even chases the other cats around the house! Then when she is done, she will come in my room and lay on my stomach for about an hour to get some love. It doesn't matter if I've already fallen asleep. Hallie will wake me up to get the attention she deserves!

January 20, 2004 Hallie weighs in at 7.5 lbs! She has times when I can tell she isn't feeling well. But those times seem to only last about 3 days and then she bounces back well. When she's not feeling well her eyes get very goopy and she runs from me when I approach her. She will also kind of isolate herself when she's not feeling well. It makes me sad but at least at this point she seems to get better quickly. Her appetite stays good even when she's not up to par. Here's Hallie at 7.5 big ole pounds! She also got her first bath since she's been with us too!

February 1, 2004 Look at Hallie Madame Le Petite now! She's really blossoming into a beautiful little lady! I need to get her in to weigh her but I believe she is at least 8 lbs now!

March 5, 2004 Yes! Hallie is staying between 7.5 & 8 lbs and seems to be staying healthy! She is a small cat anyway so I'll be happy if she maintains this weight. Email me if you'd like to have your PKD kitty's picture on my website!

Hallie continues to maintain her weight. She is happy, playful and at the same time shy. Because she is the smallest her nickname is Baby Kitty! The pictures below are from June 11, 2004

Hallie has good days and bad days. She is still the shining light in our house and just as cute as a button! The following pictures are from July 5, 2004
